2nd Saturday of December

Please Read the Instructions and Policies Below for a Fun and Safe Holiday Event.

Thank you for your interest in being a part of Portland's Holiday Celebration by entering the Light Parade!

We'd love to have you join us in giving people something 'more' to look forward to this holiday season.

We're looking for creative and well lit entries!

Please be aware of the following to ensure an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone:

THERE CAN BE NO LIVE SANTA OR MRS. CLAUS AS A PART OF YOUR ENTRY. We have these as well as holiday characters circulating through the afternoon, and they are the Grand Marshalls that end our parade. Adding additional Santa's is confusing for children present and concerning for parents.

For everyone's safety and to prevent accidents - there is NO THROWING OR TOSSING OF CANDY, FAVORS OR OTHER GIVE AWAYS on the parade route. To distribute these items, please have walkers for each side of your entry to walk along the crowd edges and drop the items at children's feet or directly into their hands. Otherwise, children run into the DARK road and vehicles have many blind spots to small children - this small step can avoid possible tragedy. By submitting this application you assume full responsibility for any risk of bodily harm, death or property damage.

By submitting this application you consent to City of Portland, it's staff and volunteers and any media or other interested parties the right and permission to use, and publish photographs or video of your entry and all participants without compensation to you, your organization or your participants.

Parade will begin at 6pm - rain, snow or shine!!

Lineup begins at 5:15pm along Riverside Drive - the route continues down Kent St to Grand River Ave (left) to Water St (left) and disperses on Canal St (just across from Bridge St).

Police will lead the parade as well as follow Santa & Mrs.Claus at the end. Portland VFW follows Police lead. Marching Band will be the 12th entry.
